This week, we're talking with Richard Hubbard who suffered from morbid obesity, along with many other related conditions including high blood pressure. At his peak, he was 350 pounds, so he knew he needed to make a change. What was your life like before your successful weight loss journey?
I was living on the standard American diet, hardly ever touching a vegetable. The horrible diet definitely took a toll on my health. I found out I was pre-hypertensive and pre-diabetic at a physical, that being the first time I saw a doctor since before college. I was also morbidly obese, having tipped the scales at over 350 pounds.

What is your life like now that you've achieved weight loss on a plant-based diet?
My life is completely different than it was in 2011. I ended up losing over 150 pounds and kept it off. Weekly, I workout 5 days, having completed two half marathons in 2019 and 2020.
What are you most proud of besides your own successful weight loss?
I am most proud of the fact that I can inspire others to change for the better. I helped my mom reverse her diabetes and am currently helping a friend lose weight with a plant based diet.
